Ciaran is a consultant psychiatrist with the Northern Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland, a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Medical Education at Queen’s University Belfast and Visiting Professor to the Bamford Centre for Mental Health at the University of Ulster. He is clinical co-lead for an innovative service for young people with “at risk mental states” and Clinical Director of the Regional Trauma Network (RTN) established for the treatment of conditions resulting from the trauma of the “Troubles”, including the trans-generational consequences. He is Research Lead for the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Network-Mental Health and has research interests in causes and treatments of first episode psychosis; the “At Risk Mental State; and the impact of childhood trauma on mental health outcomes in adulthood.
