Professor David Cotter

David’s research interest has focused more towards the biological and neuropsychiatric aspects of psychiatric disorders. His research group has identified predictive plasma protein biomarkers schizophrenia and he has identified age 11 biomarkers of psychotic disorders at age 18, transition for clinical high risk to psychotic disorder, and of good outcome in first episode psychosis. David is also interested in youth mental health and its predictors – both biological, and social and indeed dietary. He helped established the Psychosis Ireland Research Network and as lead of the PSI-STAR Clinical Doctoral Award program hopes bring this to life for patients, families, psychosis researchers, and policy makers.
