Co-Principal Investigator (Project 1)

Ian is a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist and Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh. His research interests are in early life prediction and prevention of serious mental illness. His research team takes a data-driven approach to identifying individuals at risk of schizophrenia spectrum and bipolar disorders, as well as investigating psychotic and attenuated psychotic symptoms in clinical and non-clinical populations. His research includes large-scale epidemiological studies, predictive modelling, and causal inference methods to assess treatment effects, aimed at improving early identification of risk for (and prevention of) serious mental illness.
