PSI-STAR Training

As part of the PSI-STAR PhD training programme, all scholars will have access to focused education and training.

SPHeRE Training Programme

Each PSI-STAR PhD scholar will join the Structured Population and Health-services Research Education (SPHeRE) programme, Ireland’s national research training programme for population health and health services research.

The SPHeRE programme connects scholars from diverse backgrounds and gives them a common language to work together. Training takes place over four years and is organised around expert-led, independent, and peer-led learning processes.

Core SPHeRE training will take place each Wednesday during term time. Most training days and sessions take place in person in RCSI, TCD and UCC. Most will be Dublin-based. There are also additional workshops that will be held throughout the year, many of which will be in person and some online. All scholars are expected to attend all training modules and workshops. There are applied assignments for each of the six core modules in year one.

The SPHeRE training programme is outlined in the graphic below. More information is available on the SPHeRE PhD journey guide .
